今回は英語フレーズ「It goes without saying that 〜」の意味と使い方を勉強しよう。

It goes without saying that 〜 は「〜は言うまでもない」とか「〜は当然だ」という意味。that の後には主語と動詞が続くよ。
It goes without saying that + [主語] + [動詞] ですか。
そう、たとえば that の後に「リンゴはおいしい」が続けば、「リンゴがおいしいのは言うまでもない」とか「リンゴがおいしいのは当然だ」となる。
例文を見てみよう。

しかし何でこのフレーズがこんな意味に？
細かく分解してみるとわかるけど、go without 〜 は「〜なしですます」という意味。そのため、It goes without saying that 〜 は「that 以下のことは言う必要がない」となるね。
また、Needless to say というフレーズも「〜は言うまでもない」という意味になるよ。
